Emmental is "the cheese with the holes," made popular by the Tom and Jerry cartoon and is known in the U.S.A. as "Swiss Cheese." This cheese has its own mildly, sweet flavour. It melts very easily, and so is a popular cheese for fondue and is wonderful melted onto grilled meat or vegetables. It goes beautifully with ham in a sandwich.
Serve sliced in a sandwich, melted onto meat or boiled vegetables or just by itself. And don't throw away the rind. Roast it in a frying pan. It's absolutely delicious.

It melts just as it should, and works great in fondue or on a cheese platter. A must-try for any cheese lover in Japan!

Carlos The Emmental cheese from The Cheese Guy in Okinawa is truly delicious and versatile. I thoroughly enjoy it fresh for making sandwiches and snacks with ham, mortadella, salami, and green unpitted olives.
If you can get it matured, it develops nutty flavors. It can then be savored on its own with wine or sprinkled over tomato-based soups like minestrone. Additionally, it can add a delightful accent to an omelette or be melted onto toast.
