This is a cheese that can be enjoyed as is, or as a melted topping on, say, a ham sandwich.
When eaten as is, it has a creamy taste with a very faint sour note behind it—not at all unpleasant. I really liked it wrapped in a slice of salami.
When melted, it’s just nice and creamy, and is unlikely to overwhelm whatever it’s paired with.

The Emmental cheese from The Cheese Guy in Okinawa is truly delicious and versatile. I thoroughly enjoy it fresh for making sandwiches and snacks with ham, mortadella, salami, and green unpitted olives.

If you can get it matured, it develops nutty flavors. It can then be savored on its own with wine or sprinkled over tomato-based soups like minestrone. Additionally, it can add a delightful accent to an omelette or be melted onto toast.
